It’s time for the annual NTMC food drive.

We have been collecting non-perishable food items throughout the month of November starting with our Special Edition Cracker Barrel Cruise on Saturday November 1. We plan to fill 12 large food baskets to be given to 12 Metroplex families in particular need this holiday and hopefully have enough food to also help out the local food pantry that is suffering hard times this year as well. They simply cannot keep up with the huge demand.

The NTMC baskets will be assembled at our general club meeting on November 20, 2007. This allows the baskets to be delivered in time for a Thanksgiving Day feast. Please plan to attend this special club meeting and bring, as much of a contribution as you feel is possible to help our neighbors. With our nation’s current economic situation, and the coastal tragedies that we have experienced the past several years, there are more people than ever needing assistance. Please keep your donations to non-perishable items, as cold storage is usually a problem. Every basket of food will be accompanied by a turkey or ham as well as milk, bread & eggs purchased at the time of delivery and paid for from club funds.

We hope to have 12 volunteer club members to locate a worthy family through your local Fire Department, Police Department, church or school and deliver a basket to that family the week of Thanksgiving. Please consider helping out with the food distribution as well as the donations. It is a very rewarding experience to see the gratitude on someone’s face when they receive this special gift for their family.

If you have any questions about our food drive, please feel free to contact me. Help us to make the holidays a little brighter for those who are less fortunate than we are.
