This year is the 74th annual Parade; always fun, it has quite a variety of different kinds of entries, floats, cars, tractors, marching bands, horses, etc. The Chamber of Commerce encourages parade entrants to display a Dogwood theme; this year is “Peace, Love and Dogwoods”. The club has some Dogwood silk flowers and stems that we have used in prior years that we will have again, if you wish to add some Dogwood creation of your own, please feel free to do so. The Spectators are enthusiastic and seem to look forward to our Mustangs and Cobras every year. Following the parade there is the car show and an interesting festival. The car show is close enough to the festival we generally park at the car show and roam the festival and the shops. After the car show we regroup at the Kroger shopping center right next to the car show, refuel and prepare for a cruise as a group through the Davey Dogwood Park. The Dogwoods were in Beautiful Bloom in 2011 and we hope for abundant flowers again this year. We plan to take our Annual Panoramic Photo with everyone and our cars at the Dogwood Park, a classic tradition capturing memories of our special cruise and friendships. In 2011 we had 48 cars in the photo; printed and laminated it is 10 feet long. As we cruise to and from Palestine, we communicate using personal radios, for example the Motorola Personal Radios. If you have one, please bring them, they add to the fun and help keep a group this size in touch with each other. We tune into channel 7.4. You will need the multi channel radios with the additional security channels. Mark your Calendars for March 24th and plan to spend a great day cruising to Palestine, a picturesque 2+ hour drive south of Dallas on Highway 175 to Athens, then Highway 19 to Palestine, then the Parade, the Car Show, the Festival, the Dogwoods at the Davey Dogwood Park, a FUN DAY together! The club has registered for the parade; you can register for the car show online or, by mailing in the form. Registration is twenty dollars early or twenty-five the day of the show.
